We live in a culture crafted by brilliantly tailored images, alluring corporate brands, perpetual entertainment and overpromising advertisements. We are groomed to have extravagant expectations of what life holds for us. We fix our hopes on the unreal. We expect the contradictory and the impossible. We are told that every woman should be an airbrushed supermodel and every man should expect at least one. School and marital cheating is at an all time high. A girl’s self-image is at an all-time low, male aggression and sexual experimentation is unprecedented. We may say we revere God but we are just as likely to try to be God. Al Kresta and Teresa Tomeo don’t confuse Subaru with “love” or Nikes with “just doing it”— whatever “it” is. They will show how this imaginary social world is created and how it unwittingly affects our expectations. How do we encounter the real God in an unreal world?
Doors open at 6:00, event starts promptly at 6:30.
Be sure to print your ticket and bring it with you to the conference.
Tickets at the door are $25, subject to availability.
