WAYNE’S DOWNTOWN DAYS PLANNING COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES LINE-UP FOR SECOND ANNUAL EVENT.
Downtown Days will take place in downtown Wayne, MI from Thursday, July 12th – Saturday, July 14th, and feature three days of family-friendly activities.
Wayne, MI, Organizers of Wayne Downtown Days recently announced this year’s event line-up. Downtown Days will be held at venues around downtown Wayne from Thursday, July 12th through Saturday, July 14th. The event coincides with Wayne’s annual Cruisin’ US-12 Car Cruise, which is taking place Saturday, July 14th.
Three days of Live Music, Art, and Sales
Organizers of Wayne’s Downtown Days have sought to build upon the success of last year’s event, by increasing the number of activities happening throughout the weekend, focusing on art, sales and markets, and live music. Kim White-Jenkins, owner of Helium Studio comments, “Downtown Days is an opportunity to encourage our community and residents of surrounding cities to come to downtown Wayne and experience all that our city has to offer.”
Some of this year’s highlights include:
* Thursday through Saturday (11am-4pm Thurs & Fri, 10am-2pm Sat), the Detroit Institute of Arts will be hosting a free Drop-In Workshop for kids on the lawn next to the Knights of Columbus Hall (3144 S. Wayne Rd, Wayne MI 48184). The KofC will also be kicking off their three day Tribute Concert series at 6:30pm Thursday evening with a Paul McCartney Tribute artist.
* Friday evening, from 7PM-11PM, the opening concert of Wayne’s summer Concerts-In-The-Park series will be held, with a performance by Steve King and the Dittlies.
* Saturday will feature a number of unique markets and sales:
o Helium Studio (3127 S. Wayne Rd. Wayne MI 48184) will host their Fourth Makers Market in the parking lot behind their store from 10AM – 4PM.
o The Knights of Columbus will be holding their Second Annual Rusty Trike Flea Market from 9am – 5pm
o The Wayne Historical Museum (1 Towne Square, Wayne, MI 48184) will also be holding a Vendor Show & Museum Open House from 10AM – 6PM.
In addition to these great events, Downtown Days will be holding two amazing art contests, the second annual Window on Wayne Photography Contest and the first annual Art-O-Motive Hood Design Contest. Wayne’s annual Car Cruise, Cruisin’ US-12 will also be happening along Michigan Avenue on Saturday, July 14th from 11AM – 8PM. The cruise will feature live entertainment scheduled on the US-12 Bar & Grill patio (34824 W Michigan Ave, Wayne, MI 48184) throughout the day.
