Dare to Dream Benefit Concert for Uganda
July 29, 2017 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
An event every 2 days that begins at 7:30 PM, repeating until July 29, 2017
Local Musician Dave Harburg and St.Thomas Parishioner will perform contemporary versions of his great-grandfather Yip Harburg’s more famous works, such as “Over the Rainbow,” “Brother Can You Spare a Dime,” “Old Devil Moon,” and “April in Paris”.The proceeds from the concert will help build a vocational school in Kyakatara, Uganda with the non-profit Children Waiting Everywhere. In the current vocational school all of the carpentry tools and machines are in disrepair! The men who are unable to work in the tea plantation have no other opportunity for employment. This vocational school will give them the opportunity to provide for their families who otherwise could not.
In addition to the concert, as part of the fundraising efforts, David with his brother Aaron produced an album available now on most digital music stores entitled “Harburg Recapitulations”. David and Aaron are currently producing another album with more revisions of Yip’s work along with some David Harburg originals. The concert will feature another local musician Alanna Boudreau.
7:30 PM. Towsley Auditorium, Washtenaw Community College 4800 E.Huron River Dr. Ann Arbor, Mi 48105. Tax deductible suggested donation $10 per individual or $25 for families donated at the door.
