Catholicism and Other Christian Denominations: 50 Years of Dialogue

February 11, 2017 @ 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

$35.00

Exactly 500 years ago this October, Martin Luther lit the fuse to what would become the explosive Protestant Reformation. It has now been over 50 years since Pope Paul VI, together with the Council bishops gathered at Vatican II, promulgated the Decree on Ecumenism. This document was monumental, in that it signaled a major shift in the attitude of Catholics toward their separated Christian brothers and sisters. This seminar will look back at developments in the area of Christian dialogue and cooperation in recent decades, plus offer an outline of the historical background, beliefs and practices of other mainline Christian denominations. John Schultz is a long-time faculty member of the diocesan Lay Ministry Program.
