Segment 1
Dr. Leisa Marie Carzon invites everyone to the Heart of Christ Gala.
Dr. Leisa Marie Carzon is President of the Plymouth Area Right to Life, a rapidly growing, fledgling affiliate of Right to Life of Michigan. She is an assistant professor and university graduate program Director of Catholic School Leadership, primary advisor for the St. Thomas Aquinas Education fund for religious, and assists the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.  She was the 2020 Catholic Vote State Director, leading a group of almost 1000 volunteers who worked to secure the Catholic Vote in Michigan during the last election cycle. Â
Her dissertation focus in Catholic education included the development of a new Catholic School Leadership and Identity Assessment for principals and superintendents. And her quantitative study results indicating that principals’ knowledge of and fidelity to Magisterial Church teachings were positively correlated with the strength of their schools’ Catholic identity led to the development of an entirely new theoretical model of Catholic school leadership. In collaboration with the Cardinal Newman Society, she is currently a principal investigator for a nationwide study to provide feedback to the Congregation for Catholic Education—a Pontifical congregation of the Roman Curia—with results to be presented to the Vatican.  Â
In addition to her career in education, Dr. Carzon is also a coloratura soprano and has performed both nationally and internationally. She has sung with the Michigan Opera Theater and has been a featured soloist with numerous symphonies, chamber ensembles, and choral groups. Highlights include performances as a soloist on recordings, a featured operatic role in Italy, as back-up vocalist for Maureen McGovern with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, as soloist for the consecration of Mother Angelica’s Hanceville Shrine, and as a chamber vocalist for His Holiness Pope St. John Paul II. She has been married for 29 years, is the proud mother of an amazing 19-year-old son, and she LOVES being Catholic!
Segment 2
Kevin Wells talks about his book “The Hermit: The Priest Who Save a Soul, a Marriage, and a Family”.
Kevin Wells is a former sports reporter with the Tampa Tribune, where he covered Major League Baseball and other sports. He is the author of Burst, A Story of God’s Grace When Life Falls Apart. He is a freelance writer and evangelist, addressing various Catholic topics.
Wells is President of the Monsignor Thomas Wells Society for Vocations, which financially and prayerfully commits itself to the promotion of strong priests, seminarians, and practicing the fullness of the Catholic Faith. His work with youth earned him the James Cardinal Hickey National Figure Award from the Archdiocese of Washington. He lives in Millersville, Maryland with his wife and three children. He loves baseball, reading, and his backyard fire pit with many friends gathered around.
In 2009, he survived a close brush with death after a malformed line of vessels in his brain hemorrhaged. The day after invasive brain surgery failed to control the flow of blood that was compressing his brain, Kevin was anointed by Fr. James Stack — the longtime best friend of his murdered uncle, Msgr. Thomas Wells. To this day, witnesses in the dark neuro-ICU room still tell of the miracle that unfolded at his bedside.
