Fr. Jim McNulty and Heather Shina invite us to their duet concert.

 

 

Fr. Jim McNulty was born and raised on the East Side in Harper Woods.  He went to Our Lady Queen of Peace Grade School and Bishop Gallagher High School.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Wayne State University.  He worked for the State Of Michigan with disabled people for a number of years.  He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.  He practiced law for a number of years before entering Sacred Heart Seminary where he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s of divinity degree.  He was ordained in 2003.  He has served as a priest at Our Lady of Good Council in Plymouth, St. Agatha Parish in Redford, St. Priscilla Parish in Livonia and St. Edith Parish and School in Livonia, where is has now served for the past 12 years.

Heather Nofar Shina is the second of five sisters who sing and play the piano and organ.  She has served as the Director of Music Ministries at St. Edith Catholic Church since 2004.  Heather married the love of her life, Harry Shina in 2013, and has three beautiful girls: Helena, Hazel, and Havana.

Over the past 19 years that Heather has served as the Director of Music, the music program has grown extensively.  She oversees the Adult choir, Children’s Choir, For God’s Glory, In Praise, Music Ensemble, Hand bell Choir, Resurrection Choir. Our annual Christmas concert that features all our music groups, draws crowds of hundreds of people in. 

Heather received a Bachelor of Music degree at Wayne State University in Church Music and Organ Performance in 2003, Heather was awarded a scholarship to study at the University of Michigan where she completed the Master of Music program in 2006. Heather has performed in numerous choruses with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the International Chorus in Graz, Austria Heather has performed as guest organist/vocalist throughout Michigan. She has taught at Cornerstone Academy in Detroit, served as a teacher’s assistant at Wayne State University, and professor of music at St. Clair County Community College. Many of Heather’s pupils have won regional and national awards in music and have also won full organ scholarships to study at elite universities. She is currently the music teacher at St. Thomas Montessori.

Deacon Fred Billotto invites to Mercy in Action Day.

 

Fred Billotto, assigned to Our Lady of Victory He is married to Serena (Capace) and the couple have five children: Daniel, Robert, Jenna, Lauren and Joseph; and six grandchildren: Jack, Anthony, Josie, Carina, Leo, Isla. Deacon Billotto was born in Detroit and attended St. Andrew High School in Detroit before graduating from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 2003.
