Fr. Kyle Shinsek, S. J.  ifrom St. Mary Student Parish is Parish of the Week.

 

Fr. Kyle Shinsek is the Pastor St. Mary Student Parish.

 

Fr. Kyle was born in Honolulu and raised on the island of Kaua‘i, Hawai’i. Prior to entering the Jesuits, he studied urban planning and business administration. He became Catholic as an undergraduate while studying at M.I.T. He completed graduate studies at U.C.L.A. and Northwestern and worked in the non-profit and private sectors. In 2009, his life took a new direction when he entered the Jesuit Novitiate in the Detroit area. After his formation (and degrees in philosophy and theology), he was ordained in 2018. He is fluent in Spanish and has worked to promote the inclusion of diverse cultural backgrounds in the campus communities where he worked and studied. Along with his strong background in campus ministry, he enjoys music, cooking, and sampling a variety of ethnic cuisines.

Jeff Kassab encourages us to read spiritual books this summer. 

 

Jeff is a speaker with the ECRC Speaker’s Bureau Jeff Kassab is a lifelong Catholic, sub-deacon for the Diocese of St. Thomas the Apostle, and ECRC board member. He’s married (31 years) with 2 children. He received his BA is Pastoral Theology in 2018 from Sacred Heart Major Seminary and just received his Master’s degree. He founded Genesis 4:9 men’s group in 2016, is involved in marriage ministry, teaches bible study, apologetics, the CCC, and faith formation. He can speak both the Latin and Eastern Catholic Rite Churches. He blogs, ‘The Journey to Heaven’.
