Emily Mentock talks about the film “The Violinist”.
Emily Mentock began her career leading social media for Verily Magazine as they transitioned from print to becoming an exclusively digital publication. After experiencing a conversion that reconnected her to the Catholic faith, she took on a role doing social media and digital marketing for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. One year later, she returned to her alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, to help launch Grotto Network, a digital media project focused on pre-evangelization for young adults. In 2020, Mentock joined the Archdiocese of Detroit Department of Communications, where she serves as the Associate Director of Strategy overseeing content, marketing, and creative work. She is a Founding Team Member of FemCatholic, a winner of the 2021 OSV Innovation Challenge, and Co-founder of Real+True, a global project on the Catechism that has the patronage of the Holy See through the Dicastery for Evangelization. Most recently, Emily was a producer for “The Violinist”, a documentary presented by the Augustine Institute in partnership with Digital Continent.

After 15 years in pastoral planning and organizational leadership, Mary accepted a position as Coach & Team Leader in the Department of Missionary Strategic Planning with the Archdiocese of Detroit. A certified Spiritual Director, she sits on the board of Mary’s Mantle a Catholic Home for Expectant Mothers and coordinates the Called and Gifted Process, helping disciples discern their spiritual gifts. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies, (MAPS) from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Enjoying all the seasons of Michigan, this mother of two adult children (and gramma of four), spends time traveling, cooking and transforming sacred spaces.
