Monsignor Tim Hogan reflects on his contribution to the Men of the Hearts podcast and is very honest about his reaction to a terrorist. Sr. Esther Mary Nickel invites to a special Mass and picnic to celebrate Grandparents and Elderly. Gerardo Butalid extends an invitation to all to come to the Detroit Rising event.

Monsignor Timothy Hogan

Msgr Hogan was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and raised in Southgate, MI. He received his BA from Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, Center Valley, PA (now DeSales University) and a Master of Divinity from St. John Provincial Seminary, Plymouth, MI. He was ordained a priest on 11 December1982.

He served as parochial vicar at Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Plymouth, and Sacred Heart Parish, Dearborn, and pastor of St. Christopher Parish, Detroit and Family Parish, Novi. He is currently pastor of St. Fabian Parish, Farmington Hills.  Msgr. Hogan also served as Vicar for Clergy and Consecrated Life for the Archdiocese of Detroit.

His Navy career included assignments in Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Naples, Italy, Okinawa, Japan, and six at-sea deployments, including Afghanistan onboard the USS Bataan LHD5.  He also served two combat deployments to Iraq with the US Marines.  He retired from the US Navy with 30 years of service as Hospital Corpsman then later as a Chaplain.

Sr. Esther Mary Nickel

Sister Esther Mary Nickel, RSM, Ph.D., S.L.D. is a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan.  She has a Doctorate in Sacred Liturgy from the Pontifical Institute for the Liturgy at Saint Anselm’s in Rome.  Her studies fostered a deep appreciation for the liturgical life of the Church.  From 2004-2016 she served the Church as a Professor of Sacred Liturgy and Sacramental Theology at Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado.  She is now the Director of the Office of Sacred Worship in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
