David Smith talks about the Earth Care Team and his parish. Dennis Orlowski is a Muralist and he’ll talk about this recent work. Rory Clark invites us all to a special event.
David Smith
David Smith attended St. Michael Parish School starting in first grade and has been a member of the parish since he was 7 years old. He’s an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for reducing waste and conserving our natural resources. He has worked in the waste and recycling industry since graduating from Western MIchigan University with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Administration. He currently works at the MSU Surplus Store and Recycling Center as the University’s Waste Reduction Coordinator. He has had the privilege of combining his outdoor passions, education, career and faith by serving on the St. Michael Earth Care team since its creation in 2006.Â

Dennis Orlowski
Dennis Orlowski was born in Detroit on February 26th, 1944 to second generation Polish parents. At age 14 he began 3 years of training under Cleta Popovich, a church artist and Master Craftsman. He began formal painting as a teenager. He then went on to New York City on an Art Scholarship to study at The Art Students’ League. After 3 years in Europe , Courtesy of the Us Army, he returned to Detroit to study at the Center for Creative Studies. Mr. Orlowski also spent a year in Mexico City , Mexico . Were he studied Fresco painting at the University of Mexico under a former assistant to Diego Rivera. Orlowski holds a masters degree in painting from Wayne State University and his bachelors degree is in Art Education. He is currently retired from teaching art at Detroit Public Schools where he donated much of his time to students. Dennis Orlowski is responsible for over 100 Murals throughout South Eastern Michigan in a variety of public places ranging from schools and libraries to churches, as well as murals elsewhere, including Mexico and Germany .
