December 19, 2020: Epiphany

Epiphany invites you to listen to the credible witnesses of God’s love. Michael Merriman gives a great witness about the importance of prayer in his life. Hear Tom Hornacek talk about the gifts from God and how to be thankful. Nicholas Modelski witnesses to the calling to become a Deacon in the Ukranian Rite. Barbara Brish witnesses to the results of curriculum focused for the students at Divine Mercy Academy and the affects on her staff. Kim Kerwin’s dynamic witness to the love of scripture and making it part of our daily life.

Michael Merriman

-Mike Merriman was cradle Catholic born in Flint Michigan. Baptized and confirmed. At 18 yrs old he walked away from the Church and fell prey to alcoholism, drugs, and promiscuity.

Mike has been clean and sober for 18 years and came back to the Church in 2016 on the day of the beatification of St Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He received the baptism of the fire of the Holy Spirit July 21, 2018. He loves to pray and is a participant in the Prayer Warrior page on FB since January 2020 and is part of Three Strands (freedom) Ministry YouTube channel and FB page.

Tom Hornacek

Director, Community Outreach, Ave Maria Radio

Tom Hornacek and his wife Marion live in East Tawas, Mi., after selling and retiring from their grocery store, hardware and outlet store businesses. They have three daughters and four grandsons. Twenty one years ago Tom was a lukewarm Catholic, then his favorite sports talk radio station in Saginaw, Mi. was purchased by Ave Maria Radio, and God went to work. Listening to great Catholic teaching, unexpected suffering, along with lots of God’s mercy, Tom went from lukewarm Catholic to intentional disciple. Tom served as the president of Baraga Catholic Radio in northern Mi. for six years and now serves as a Community Outreach Director at Ave Maria Radio and membership drive host. Tom is a member of Encounter Ministries prayer teams and Live Free prayer teams. He and his wife Marion also do mission work for Renewal Ministries. Tom’s passion is prayer and spiritual warfare, hoping to equip others to defend themselves and their families.

Nicholas Modelski

Communications Coordinator for the Catholic Communities of L’Arbre Croche [LAR-bur CROW-SH] in Harbor Springs, MI

Nicholas Modelski is a middle school history teacher with Queen of Heaven Academy, and a recently professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Nick is also husband to Maria and father to Anne, Daniel, and Charles. And on top of all of that, this is Nick’s second year as a student in the diaconal formation program with the Mission Institute for the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas. Before his current position with the Catholic Communities, Nick served as Program Manager and Production head for the Ave Maria-affiliated Baraga Radio Network for 5 years.

Kim Kerwin


Director of Religious Education, Middle School Theology Teacher

Kim Kerwin is a theology teacher and director of religious formation at St. Fabian Catholic School. She has taught kindergarten, grades 5-8, and worked with high school youth ministry.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Madonna University. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Theology from Sacred Heart Major Seminary. She and her husband, Bob, are involved in the parish life of St. Fabian with youth ministry and as sacristans.
