Gene Leger

Deacon Gene Leger is a deacon of the Diocese of Lansing, currently assigned to St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Ann Arbor.

He has been the General Sales Manager for Ave Maria Radio for the past 20 years.

Dcn. Gene is the husband of Suzanne for 39 years, the father of five, and the grandfather of five.

He is active in men’s ministry and marriage preparation and is learning more about the great foster father of our Lord Jesus and the spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary during this special year designated by the Church as the ‘Year of St. Joseph’

You can find them on the weekends attending mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel parish in Plymouth, hiking at Maybury State Park, running outside, riding their Peloton, drinking coffee, and spending time with their family and friends.

Kathy Svoboda

Strategic Planning Coach – Team Leader, Department of Missionary Strategic Planning, AOD

As a licensed attorney, Kathy has provided legal services in multiple roles including as a juvenile prosecuting attorney, Circuit Court Referee, State Administrative Law Judge and Manager, and as a self-employed Attorney specializing in estate planning and probate/trust administration. Throughout her legal career, Kathy has focused on servant leadership, providing service to families and individuals in need through employment choices and volunteer work on not for profit boards. Currently Kathy serves as a consultant for development of organizational strategic plans, leadership team development and formation training, as well as directing faith-based initiatives and follow up training for teams. As a regional coordinator, or coach for the Archdiocese of Detroit, Kathy, accompanies the 4 vicariates in the South region of the AOD through the pioneering process of complete restructuring to align available pastors with parishes and reorient the Faithful in SE Michigan to Unleash the Gospel during this transformative process.  More broadly, she collaborates with many teams committed to the evolving process of Families of Parishes, in particular leading the team responsible for education and formation of the lay faithful relating to the Families of Parishes process.  Passionate about people, Kathy is committed to bringing the love of Jesus to others, helping them understand that He loves them always, and they each hold an important role in his earthly Kingdom.  Kathy received her Certificate in Catholic Theology from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in December, 2019


Lori Becker

Coordinator Respect Life Office, Diocese of Saginaw

After successfully completing 7 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E) Lori began her ministry as a hospital and hospice chaplain in 2002 and is currently the Respect Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Saginaw after accepting the position in 2015.   Lori’s role as the Respect Life Coordinator is in supporting and providing outreach to 56 parishes in areas of pro-life awareness, the sanctity of life, post abortive healing, grief counseling and support, pastoral care training, crisis pregnancy resources, Befriender Ministry and more.


Patrick Kakos

Patrick Kakos is a 14-year-old freshman at St. Mary’s prep of Orchard Lake and is the oldest child of four siblings. Patrick enjoys playing sports and spending time with his family. He especially loves to learn about his faith and the Chaldean culture and language.
