Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on October 29, 2019
4:00 – Kresta Comments: Do People “Choose” Hell?
4:20 – The Saints who Saw Hell
“One of Satan’s greatest works is to make people believe that he does not exist.” No one knows who first made this observation. The exact wording changes from source to source. However, it is all too true – and the saints who saw Hell can attest to it. Who were these saints? We talk about it with Paul Thigpen.
5:00 – Further Synod Impressions
In the Synod closing Mass Pope Francis denounced exploitation and “predatory models of development” that plunder the poor and wound “sister Earth.” He also stated “In this synod we have had the grace of listening to the voices of the poor and reflecting on the precariousness of their lives, threatened by predatory models of development.” The Mass was attended by Catholic indigenous peoples from the Amazon, though the controversial statues were not present. Robert Royal joins us with his impressions of the Synod.

Each of us face grief throughout our lives, and we all handle it differently. How can we reach out to grieving loved ones, or even strangers? Susan Erschen joins us with stories of dealing with Grief and how we can use it to grow closer to God and others.
