4:00 – Fostering a Culture of Hope

The City of Philadelphia recently announced that it will be terminating its contract with Catholic Social Services because of its beliefs about same-sex marriage. They made this decision despite the fact that the city has more than 5000 kids in foster care and CSS serves more than 2200 at-risk kids through its various programs and has a proven track record of placing foster kids in stable homes. Kathryn Jean Lopez, who is hosting a foster-care forum in Washington, DC, for National Foster Care Month, joins us.

4:20 – Catholic Therapist Fired because of her Religious Beliefs on Marriage

Kathleen Lorentzen, a Catholic and licensed clinical social worker, was told by her supervisor that she had to be a “social worker first and a Catholic second” and was fired because she asked to refer to another therapist a gay couple seeking marriage counseling. Although she has counseled many gay patients in her career, she could not provide marriage counseling for this couple without violating her religious beliefs. Attorney Tyler Brooks joins us.

4:40 – Social Science Apologetics: Love Hurts

Studies have shown that patients with chronic conditions such as arthritis suffer worsened symptoms when they argue with their spouse. We’ll discuss it with Dr. Greg Popcak.

5:00 – Angels: The Power of God’s Mighty Messengers

We spoke recently with Fr John Horgan about Angels. They do not form a separate universe – they are an integral part of this world and have been sent forth for the sake of our salvation. They are pure spirits who communicate to us God’s grace, His goodness, and His truth. We only had time to scratch the surface of this immense topic last time, and today we’ll dive deeper into the rich and beautiful reality of God’s messengers.
