Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on March 1, 2019

4:00 – Are the Cardinal Pell Accusations Credible?

We learned this week that Cardinal Pell was convicted in December of a sexual abuse charge from the 1990s, but that a second trial from a charge dating from the 70s has been dropped. He is awaiting sentencing, at which point he plans to appeal. Pell has maintained his innocence throughout this case. Is there reason to believe his innocence? We talk with George Weigel, who has known him for fifty years and followed the case closely.

4:20 – Al Reviews the Problems with the Pell Accusations

4:40 – Discover your place in the story of Salvation

How are Catholics supposed to read and understand Scripture? Matthew Leonard has developed a new video series for Lent called Genesis to Jesus. He joins us with a look at what the Bible is, the story it tells and how you can dive deeper into Scripture this Lent.

5:00 – Ten Theses on Creation (Most) Christians Can Support

Reconciling the seemingly irreconcilable Biblical accounts of creation with what we believe from science and the fossil record can be difficult. How do Christians approach this topic and how do they discuss it amongst themselves and amongst non-Christians? We talk with Pastor Todd Wilson.

5:20 – What does New Science about DNA Say about Evolution?

Michael Behe, professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University, has been keeping committed Darwinists awake nights for years. His 1996 book Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution asked a long-ignored question: If Darwin’s theory explains everything so well, why hasn’t anyone shown how it works at the minutest level, biochemistry? If it doesn’t work there, it doesn’t work anywhere. He joins us today with a look at our new understandings of DNA and what they say about our origins.

5:40 – A Biblical Walk through the Passion

Thousands sought Jesus during his life. Only a few followed him to Calvary. What will you do? Ed Sri takes us on a Biblical pilgrimage through Christ’s Passion, looking at the Old Testament Prophecies, messianic expectations, Biblical symbolism and historical context that sheds light on the mystery of Christ’s suffering, death and amazing love for us.
