Over the last two millennia our understanding of Jesus has been shaped by different cultural influences, many of them of Western European origin. But Christ did not grow up in Europe; he was a Jewish man living in a Jewish land, observing Jewish customs while he spoke to Jewish people. By putting Him back into this context, we are able to more fully understand and appreciate Christ’s teachings. We’ll talk about it with Robby Gallaty.

The Great Schism was the culmination of theological and political differences that had developed between the East and the West over the centuries. At the time the Church was led by Pope Leo IX, who was tasked with leading during one of the Church’s most tumultuous times. His feast was April 19 and we’ll look at his legacy with Bill Cook.
