 In December, Australian Cardinal George Pell was convicted on five counts of sexual abuse of minors, and in March he was sentenced to 6 years in prison. His appeal process has begun this week, on the grounds that he did not receive a fair trial. We get the latest from Matthew Bunson, who also looks at a claim that Cardinal DiNardo mishandled an abuse allegation and whether Pope Francis has changed the Our Father and the Gloria.

Ernst Lohmeyer was a German theologian who served active duty in both World War I and World War II and resisted the rise of Nazi fascism as a member of the Confessing Church. But just a few years later he found himself resisting Soviet occupation; he was soon imprisoned, where he spent the rest of his life. James Edwards shares the story of this man who spent his life between the Swastika and the Sickle.
