4:00 – Understanding Pope Francis
Much of the difficulty in interpreting Pope Francis’ papacy comes from his style – his conversational, freewheeling approach is very different from the academic styles of Benedict XVI and Saint John Paul II. Fr. Roger Landry joins us with some thoughts on how we should understand this approach.
4:20 – The Thought of Leo XIII
Leo XIII is considered the father of modern Catholic social teaching. Yet Leo’s influence was much greater. After the loss of the Papal States, Leo re-oriented the papacy toward an evangelical engagement with the world. His work on the social order emphasized the Christian disciple’s role in “ruling” the temporal spheres entrusted to him. In a time when secular liberal states are infected with totalitarian impulses, Leo’s vision is very timely. We talk with Dr. Dan Frascella.
5:00 – Finding my True Identity in the Church
We’ve talked in the past with Dan Mattson about why he “doesn’t call himself gay.” He joins us with further reflections on the Church’s good news on sexuality and his personal journey to finding his fulfilled identity in Christ.
