Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on July 31, 2018

4:00 – Hope: The Power of one of God’s greatest gifts to us

St. Peter calls us to “always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope.” It’s one of God’s greatest gifts to us and is an essential and life-giving topic. By meditating on Scripture and the teachings of the Church, we come to a deeper understanding of how hope is necessary in the life of a disciple. We’ll talk more with Fr. Philip Bochanski.

5:00 – Kresta Comments

5:20 – Responding to Christianophobia

We need to be careful when discussing anti-Christian biases in countries like the US. It’s disingenuous to compare it to the anti-Christian persecution of the Middle East or North Korea, and to do so ultimately results in Christians “crying wolf.” But we also can’t pretend it doesn’t happen. Anti-Christian attitudes are pervasive, especially among the highly-educated classes that wield so much influence. We’ll talk about how to respond with George Yancey.
