For most Catholics, the most interesting Supreme Court news last week was the ruling in favor of pro-life centers and the announcement of Anthony Kennedy’s retirement. But there is another major case worthy of our attention – the decision in Janus v AFSCME which ruled public employees cannot be forced to pau union dues or fees. The Mackinac Center of Michigan championed the case and last week a longtime staff member received a phone call from a New York teacher, calling her an offensive word and warning her she was “messing with the wrong people.” We get more on the story from Lindsay Killen.
