Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on April 30, 2018

4:00 – When the State allows an infant to die

The story of Alfie Evans came to a tragic end with his death early Saturday morning. Despite international protest, a direct appeal from the pope and the option to send the child to another hospital, Alder Hey hospital and the UK courts decided he should be left to die. We’ll talk more with Kathryn Moseley.

4:20 – The Saints’ Most Popular (Mis) Quotes

“Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.” So goes one of St. Francis’ most popular sayings. But wait – he never said it! And while the saying can be well-intentioned, it’s not even faithful to what Christ taught about evangelization. We’ll talk with Trent Horn about other popular misquotes from the saints.

5:00 – Social Science Apologetics: Praying For (and With) Your Spouse

Prayer, in marriage, is more than checking off a box. It is time spent in the presence of the Author of love himself. Every time we pray for and with our spouse, God gives us greater insight into what it takes to love each other better more deeply, more honestly, more authentically, and more passionately. Every time we pray for and with our spouse, we open our hearts to a love that can satisfy our deepest longings and allow our marriage to be a light to the world. We’ll talk with Dr. Greg Popcak.

5:20 – Daring to be Catholic in the Business World

John Abbate, owner-operator of a large number of McDonald’s restaurants throughout Central California, has built a successful career investing in the iconic golden arches and in real estate. His most rewarding investment, however, has been in his Catholic faith, which has transformed his life into one of self-giving rather than self-serving.
