Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on April 24, 2018
4:00 – What Happens at Mass? (part II)
Shortly before Easter we shared the first part of our conversation with Abbot Fr. Jeremy Driscoll, who took us on an in-depth guided tour of the Mass, looking at the theology and symbolism behind the celebration. We only had time to explore the Introductory Rite and Liturgy of the Word, so today we’ll pick up where we left off.
4:40 – Kresta Comments: Further Thoughts on the Mass
5:00 – Who was the “Snowshoe Priest?”
We know Michael O’Neill, the Miracle Hunter, as the host of They Might Be Saints. His newest episode features Bishop Frederic Baraga, the “Snowshoe Priest” who made his home in the snows and forests of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Michael joins us.
5:20 – The Spirituality of Gratefulness
In a consumer-drive culture, it’s easy to forget about the importance of gratefulness. Sure, we’re encouraged to take a few minutes at Thanksgiving to “count our blessings,” but it doesn’t go much further. Secular writers may explore the benefits of gratitude, but they fail to explore the much deeper spiritual meaning of gratitude. We’ll talk with Susan Muto about the development of Christian gratitude over the centuries and how it applies today.
