Talking about the “Things That Matter Most” on December 7, 2017

4:00 – Did Trump Make the Right Move on Jerusalem? Time will tell

World leaders throughout Europe and the Middle East, as well as Pope Francis, have spoken out against President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The Vatican has always had a special relation with Israel, and the relationship between the two states is far different than the relationship between either one and the US. We’ll continue our coverage of this story and look at the Vatican’s reaction with Francis Rooneya former US Ambassador to the Vatican.

4:20 – Register Recap: Pope Francis Appoints Two Archbishops + Papal Visit to Myanmar

Pope Francis appointed two new archbishops today for the Archdioceses of Paris and Mexico City, which is the largest diocese in the world. The pope is also coming off a trip to Myanmar and Bangladesh, where he addressed the suffering of the Rohingya people, a minority Muslim group that is being persecuted by the Burmese government. Matthew Bunson joins us with a look at both stories.

4:40 – Pro-Lifers Arrested after counseling inside abortion facility

Eleven pro-lifers were arrested on Saturday at three different abortion clinics in Michigan, Virginia and Washington, DC. This is the second operation by the Red Rose Rescue Campaign. Monica Miller and Fr. Stephen Imbarrato both participated and were arrested. They’ll describe the experience.

5:00 – Supreme Court Begins “Wedding Cake Case:” A look Inside the Courtroom

This week the Supreme Court heard Oral arguments in the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case. It’s a landmark case that will set precedent for future cases involving Christians who refuse to provide services for same-sex “weddings” and will be a telling look at the state of the religious liberty/discrimination debate in our country. We’ll talk with Jim Campbell, Senior Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom.

5:20 – Superman, Star Wars and the Search for a Real Savior

The Marvel and DC comic book franchises continue to roll out new films, the latest being Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League. Both films eclipsed $200 million at the box office, despite lukewarm reviews for the latter. And anticipation is high for the next Star Wars installment, The Last Jedi, which hits theaters on December 15. Does the popularity of these films indicate a hunger for pagan gods and a culture looking to replace Christ? Or do they serves as pointers to a real Savior? We’ll talk it over with Jim Papandrea.
