Segment 1 – Intro and News
Segment 2 – The new ESV® Catholic Edition Bible translation from the Augustine Institute
The new ESV® Catholic Edition Bible translation will make Bible reading more understandable and accessible yet retain the accuracy and reliability necessary for faithful Catholics when reading Sacred Scripture. The new translation includes changes to nearly 60,000 words from the Revised Standard Version (RSV) and is the best combination of a literal translation written in smooth and readable English.
Dr. Michael Barber is the author of “Salvation: What Every Catholic Should Know.” He is Associate Professor of Theology and Scripture at the Augustine Institute in Denver, CO. In addition to teaching, academic research, and publishing, he also gives popular presentations at Catholic conferences and parish events around the United States.
Segment 3 – Xavier Becerra for HHS Secretary?
The Catholic Association’s (TCA) Senior Fellow, Ashley McGuire, blasted Biden’s choice for HHS Secretary stating, “Becerra spent years tormenting the Little Sisters of the Poor in court, trying to force them to pay for things like abortion pills against their consciences. He also led efforts to force pro-life pregnancy resource centers to advertise for abortion. Thankfully both of his efforts failed at the Supreme Court. But Becerra is outright hostile to religious liberty and Biden’s choice of someone so openly anti-Catholic is an affront to the faith that he so frequently invoked as part of his campaign.”
Ashley McGuire is a Senior Fellow with The Catholic Association and the author of Sex Scandal: The Drive to Abolish Male and Female. Ashley writes and speaks widely about religious freedom, Catholicism, and women. She has appeared on CNN and its international affiliate, CBS, FOX, PBS, EWTN, and the BBC, and her writing has appeared in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, USA TODAY, TIME magazine, First Things, RealClearPolitics, The Weekly Standard, The Federalist, the New York Post, and The Huffington Post, among others.
Segment 4 – Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem
“The pandemic has ravaged Bethlehem. 90% of Bethlehemites have not received a salary since March. Until pilgrimages resume, the economy of Bethlehem will be frozen and families will suffer. Despite the unprecedented humanitarian and economic challenges, hope does not dim easily in Bethlehem. Families will still gather on Christmas Eve, praying for an end to the plight of the pandemic. Holy Family Hospital stands as a beacon of hope only 1,500 steps from the manger where Mary laid her newborn Son. How fitting that on Christmas Eve, the staff of the hospital will welcome over a dozen women in labor and expertly deliver their babies.”
