Allegra Baistrocchi joins Teresa to talk about the Consulate of Italy in Detroit and some of the events they have coming up, such as the Downtown Detroit Shop and See with Italian and Detroitissimi brands on Sept 23. There is also the Magic Italian Lab, an event for the younger generation, with activities about Italy, fairytale reading, dancing, crafts, snacks and a film screening (ages 3-8) the following day.

Allegra Baistrocchi – Consul of Italy in Detroit, with jurisdiction over the States of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee, she has great interest in Cultural and Digital Diplomacy. Last year, the Consulate of Italy in Detroit launched its LoveITDetroit metaverse, the first ever by a Government entity, and in its second iteration it hosted a world-first free exhibition of modern Italian art ever created by a public administration. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, she was Deputy Chief of Staff of the Director General overseeing Italian cooperation projects in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, South America and Europe.

“A Stations of the Cross display on privately owned wooded land seems an unlikely subject for a federal case. Yet, just such a case has come out of Genoa Township in Livingston County in southeastern Michigan, escalating from a local government dispute over a special-use permit all the way to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in Cincinnati.” Attorney Robert Muise joins us in-studio today to explain the situation. Robert Muise is an Attorney with the American Freedom Law Center. He is also a former Marine infantry officer and an expert in constitutional law. Since 2000, his law practice has been dedicated to defending religious liberties, the freedom of speech, and the right to life in state and federal trial and appellate courts all across the country. Mr. Muise has been involved in numerous cases defending American freedoms against the growing threats.
