Segment 3 – “The Violinist: Stories of Solanus Casey” documentary
“From the Augustine Institute, in partnership with Digital Continent, comes a film showcasing the simple, persistent holiness of Bl. Solanus Casey. The Violinist: Stories of Solanus Casey will debut July 27-28 in his hometown of Detroit. Casey was a simple priest who lived with the Capuchins at the Franciscan Province of St. Joseph until 1957. Although he didn’t do anything particularly extraordinary during his life, thousands turned out after his death to testify to the extraordinary love he had for God and his fellow man. The Violinist uses beautiful filming and provoking storytelling to weave together stories from three people who knew him when he was alive. The Solanus Casey Center and the Capuchins at the Franciscan Province of St. Joseph will host free showings of this remarkable film on July 27 and 28 in Detroit.”

Emily Mentock is a Founding Team Member of FemCatholic, a winner of the 2021 OSV Innovation Challenge, and Co-founder of Real+True, a global project on the Catechism that has the patronage of the Holy See through the Dicastery for Evangelization. Most recently, Emily was a producer for “The Violinist,” a documentary presented by the Augustine Institute in partnership with Digital Continent.
