Segment 3 & 4 – Studying claims of healing by pilgrims in Lourdes

Dr. Alessandro de Franciscis is our guest. In February of 2009, he was invited and appointed by the Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes, France – Msgr Jacques Perrier – to become the 15th Médecin Permanent and, therefore, President of the Bureau des Constatations Médicales de Lourdes and of AMIL, the International Lourdes Medical Association (est. 1928) and Secretary of the CMIL, the Lourdes International Medical Committee (est. 1954). The Bureau, or Lourdes Office of Medical Observations, was founded in 1883 to record, study and judge the hundreds of healings and cures reported by pilgrims at the Shrine of
Lourdes, where Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared in 1858 to Bernadette Soubirous.

Dr. Scott Hahn is the Fr. Michael Scanlan Professor of Biblical Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he has taught since 1990. Founder and President of the St. Paul Center, Dr. Hahn has been married to Kimberly since 1979; they have six children and nineteen grandchildren. The author or editor of over forty popular and academic books, Dr. Hahn’s works include best-selling titles Rome Sweet HomeThe Lamb’s Supper, and The First Society.
