Segment 2 – United Community Family Services with the Chaldean American Ladies of Charity
The Chaldean American Ladies of Charity (CALC) was formed in 1961 when 20 women sought to support families and individuals in need. The founders’ legacy of helping others and restoring families provided the foundation of our mission today: to provide programs that guide, support, and empower individuals to achieve self-sufficiency with dignity and hope. CALC has since grown from and all-volunteer agency into a large organization providing wrap-around services and programs through qualified staff, Board members, and volunteers.
Kristin Olmedo joined United Community Family Services/Chaldean American Ladies of Charity (UCFS/CALC) as its new president and CEO in June 2021. Kristin is responsible for the oversight and strategic direction of UCFS/CALC’s services to more than 10,000 people annually in metro Detroit. Kristin has dedicated her career to the care of others. She is a vastly experienced nonprofit executive who brings a lifelong passion and commitment to those less fortunate in our community.

The 59th National Maronite Convention is taking place this July at the Detroit Marriott Hotel at the Renaissance Center. Vanessa Denha Garmo will be speaking along with Peter Herbeck, host of “Fire on the Earth.” Fr. Chris Nahra joins us this morning to discuss. Click here for more details.
