After two years at the University of North Carolina, he returned to the University of Michigan where he has been on the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine since 1997 and is currently service chief for the department. Dr. Chavey, and several colleagues founded Emmaus Health in 2014 as a way to create a model for Catholic outpatient primary care – initially in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but with an eye toward extending the model to other communities throughout the country.Â
