In gratitude for the men and women who give their lives so that our community is safe, please join for the celebration of Mass at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00 AM. This celebration is often called the “Blue” Mass to reflect to color of their uniforms.

Sister Esther Mary Nickel, RSM, Ph.D., S.L.D. is a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan.  She has a Doctorate in Sacred Liturgy from the Pontifical Institute for the Liturgy at Saint Anselm’s in Rome.  Her studies fostered a deep appreciation for the liturgical life of the Church.  From 2004-2016 she served the Church as a Professor of Sacred Liturgy and Sacramental Theology at Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado.  She is now the Director of the Office of Sacred Worship in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
