Segment 3 – The Path to the Priesthood for Deacon Andrew Smith

Dcn. Andrew Smith is a transitional deacon for the Archdiocese of Detroit (Home parish: St. Peter Parish, Mount Clemens), who will be ordained a priest later this year.  He joins Teresa this morning to talk about his calling and journey to the priesthood.  He says, “I want to be a priest who has a shepherd’s heart for his people — one who is known to love his people and is willing to sacrifice to lead them closer to God. I want to be the kind of priest whose people know that he is always there for them and available when they need him, in times of joy and in times of sorrow. Above all, though, I want to be known as a holy priest, one who people see as a man of prayer. This is one of the greatest witnesses a priest can give to his people.”
