Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas

December 20, 2010

By Al Kresta

As 2010 draws to its close, I want to thank you and let you to know just how effective your prayers and financial support have been for Ave Maria Radio. This has been a challenging year of careful stewardship and continuous improvement. More and more people are being reached with the Gospel of Christ and the teaching of His Church. Here are a few highlights…

We currently produce over 20 different program titles at our studios in Ann Arbor-nearly 50 hours of original Catholic radio each week-offered at no charge to all Catholic radio stations across the U.S., as well as online. They include:

· Kresta in the Afternoon

· The Doctor is In

· Catholic Connection

…heard daily on more than 150 radio stations, as well as on the internet. And tens of thousands of listeners across the nation also tune into:

· Christ is the Answer

· Heart Mind and Strength

· Stories From the Heart

· Fire on the Earth

· Food for the Journey

…as well as our other programs. None of this could happen without your partnership in the New Evangelization and your ongoing faith and drive to reach the world with the Catholic message.

In 2010, Ave Maria Radio provided extensive support to local and national apostolates and ministries, through:

· Coverage of more than 100 events, including the All-State Catholic Men’s Conference at Eastern Michigan University, and the Marian Conference at Boyne Mountain.

· On-site recording (for later broadcast) of first and permanent vows of the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist…eight Evangelism Conferences for the Archdiocese of Detroit…the Call to Holiness dinner…kick-offs for several Detroit-area Forty Days For Life events…presentations of the Heart-to-Heart Women’s Apostolate…the Eucharistic Conference held by the Real Presence Foundation at Our Lady of Good Council…and more.

· Remote broadcasts from the March for Life in Washington…U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Fall Assembly in Baltimore…the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines…Catholic Leadership Conference in Philadelphia…and the Catholic Radio Association meeting in Birmingham.

A number of special activities were also held, including local and overseas pilgrimages, in which Ave Maria personalities and many of our listeners took part (ie: tours of the great churches of Detroit and Toledo). We brought a noted authority on the Shroud of Turin, Russ Breault, to five area churches. And we were particularly blessed to host His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, in our studios.

Thank-you for your support of Ave Maria Radio through prayer, finance, volunteering, or listenership and it is with great anticipation that we look forward to what the Lord has in store for us in 2011. Please continue to keep us in your prayers, as we continue to keep you in ours.

In the service of Christ and His gospel,

Al Kresta
