Ave Maria in the Afternoon – September 27, 2024 – Hour 2

Rob Corzine unpacks the Sunday Gospel and Colin Smith shares how he led his family to the Catholic Church.

“If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out”

In this Sunday’s Gospel Jesus makes some rather extreme statements. It would be better to put a millstone around your neck and be thrown into the sea than to lead a little one to sin. If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. We unpack the readings with Rob Corzine.

Robert Corzine is Vice President of Academic Programs for the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. He was received into the Catholic Church in 1994 and has held teaching and advocacy positions for several Catholic apostolates, including work as an apologist and catechetical writer for Catholics United for the Faith and as producer and host of a weekly Catholic radio program on apologetics and evangelization. Host of EWTN’s Genesis to Jesus with Dr. Scott Hahn, Rob holds a degree in Humanities and Catholic Culture from Franciscan University.

I wrote hundreds of letters to my family to become Catholic – and it worked!

Colin Smith was raised a devout evangelical Protestant and converted to Catholicism just before his freshman year at Notre Dame. He then began writing hundreds of letters to his parents and two younger siblings explaining the theological reasoning of his faith and inviting them to cross the Tiber with him. And last month, they did! Colin shares his story.
