Ave Maria in the Afternoon – September 17, 2024 – Hour 2

When the pandemic hit, millions of parents became homeschoolers overnight. And many found that they enjoyed it. Greg Popcak, a homeschooling parent for 25 years, tells us what families need to know about homeschooling and we take your calls on your own experiences.

Can Homeschooling Build the Domestic Church?

When schools shut down in-person learning during the pandemic, millions of parents found themselves becoming teachers overnight – and many decided to stay that way even after things returned to normal. Like many of our listeners, Greg and Lisa Popcak have been homeschooling their children for years. He joins us with things homeschool families should know.

Dr Greg Popcak is the founder and director of CatholicCounselors.com, a group pastoral telecounseling practice providing faithful help to Catholics dealing with personal, emotoinal and relationship problems. Together with his wife, Lisa, he is the author of over 20 books integrating insights from counseling psychology and the timeless wisdom of our Catholic faith. They are also the developers of the CatholicHOM app, a resource helping Catholic families thrive. Dr. Greg and Lisa are the hosts of More2Life, a call in advice program airing weekdays at 10am E and produced by Ave Maria Radio and carried across the EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network.

Studio Spotlight: My Homeschool Experience

A recent cover story in Newsweek magazine takes a deep dive into Americans who choose to homeschool. It explores the idea in a refreshingly positive light. Many elites have portrayed homeschooling very negatively, including one who claimed it violates a child’s rights to a meaningful education. We know many of you were homeschooled or chose to homeschool your own children and we want to hear from you. Give us a call at 877-573-7825.
