Ave Maria in the Afternoon – October 15, 2024 – Hour 2

Why do so many well-intentioned pastoral plans fail? We talk with Peter Andrastek and explore Catholic philosophy with James Jacobs.

Why do so many Pastoral Plans fail?

Peter Andrastek has worked for the Church at the parish and diocesan levels for nearly twenty years, and in all that time he has never seen a parish pastoral plan produce the wide-spread transformative fruit its authors hoped for. What is Catholic Philosophy?

The Catholic Church has always recognized that philosophy is necessary both to understand the faith as well as to defend it, and the need for a philosophically-informed faith has become more acute with the rise of secularism. James Jacobs joins us with an introduction to Catholic philosophy.

Dr. James Jacobs is Director of Philosophy Programs, Associate Academic Dean, and Department Chair of Philosophy at Notre Dame Seminary in Louisiana. He’s the author of Seat of Wisdom: An Introduction to Philosophy in the Catholic Tradition.
