The Legacy of Lord of the Rings, 70 Years Later

The Fellowship of the Ring was published on July 29, 1954. We discuss its legacy and Tolkien’s faith with Holly Ordway.

 

Holly Ordway is the author most recently of Tolkien's Faith: A Spiritual Biography. She is a Fellow of Faith and Culture at the Word on Fire Institute and Visiting Professor of Apologetics at Houston Christian University. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is a Subject Editor for the Journal of Inklings Studies. Her other books include "Tolkien’s Modern Reading: Middle-earth Beyond the Middle Ages," which received the 2022 Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies, and "Not God’s Type: An Atheist Academic Lays Down her Arms."
