American Culture: The Sacred and the Profane
In his first address since dropping out of the presidential race, Joe Biden used the word “sacred” four times to refer to civic and political matters. It’s become common for politicians to use religious language to describe secular things. Jesus warned against confusing the things of God with the things of Caesar.
