Ave Maria in the Afternoon – April 22, 2025 – Hour 2

We continue our look at the life and legacy of Pope Francis. Dr. Greg Popcak discusses his mixed messaging on families, Deacon Harold-Burke Sivers reflects on the loss of a father, and we get a special tribute with Toledo Bishop Daniel Thomas.

Pope Francis’ Mixed Messaging on Families

Pope Francis spoke often on the family, emphasizing the importance of kindness and family time. But in other words and actions, he seemed to overlook the larger importance of family life in building the Church. Greg Popcak joins us with more.

Dr Greg Popcak is the founder and director of CatholicCounselors.com, a group pastoral telecounseling practice providing faithful help to Catholics dealing with personal, emotional and relationship problems. He is also the former chair of the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies program at Holy Apostles College and Seminary and an adjunct professor of psychology and graduate theology at Franciscan. Together with his wife, Lisa, he is the author of over 20 books integrating insights from counseling psychology and the timeless wisdom of our Catholic faith.
