+  Couple to Couple League / Natural Family Planning

  • Description: Rachel Faitel is an instructor with the Couple to Couple League. She teaches NFP to couples every year with her husband Chip. Next week is NFP Awareness Week and the CCL is co-sponsoring a picnic with the Archdiocese of Detroit on July 21st at Woodhaven Civic Center Park. "The purpose is for families living the NFP-lifestyle to gather in fellowship. When you practice NFP it can sometimes feel like you are the only ones. This annual picnic helps families realize that they are not alone. We try to have the picnic in different locations every year. Last year we were in Warren. This year we are downriver. It is a potluck so everyone should bring a dish to pass."

Father Alex Kratz, O.F.M., is a Franciscan priest in residence at St. Aloysius Parish in downtown Detroit. As a Franciscan friar, Fr. Alex also developed contacts among the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land—the official custodians of the Holy Places for the Catholic Church. While in the Holy Land father was asked to be chaplain for two pilgrimages and it was through this experience that he discovered a love and a call to serve as a pilgrimage Spiritual Director. It was this foundational experience that inspired him to start Terra Sancta Pilgrimages in 2008 to provide direct and creative “solidarity support” to the Church of Jerusalem.
