When involved in politics, he was an active member of the British Conservative Party for over 15 years. He identifies himself philosophically as an Austro-libertarian, co-founding (with Vincent de Roeck) the European Parliament’s Mises Circle, which exists to promote greater recognition of the Austrian School of Economics; he also co-founded the international Right Approach Group (with Patrick Barron), to explore free-market solutions to contemporary problems. In 2004 Benjamin Harnwell was received into the Catholic Church, by Fr. Michael Seed.
