  • Description: The Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is having a large Archdiocesan event coming up on September 6th for parish leaders: pastors, pastoral staffs, DREs and Section Heads, Youth Ministers, RCIA Coordinators, Evangelization Committees, Catechists, etc. The purpose of the event is to gather parish leaders together to kick off the year. The theme is "Creating a Culture of Discipleship."

    • Bishop Michael Byrnes
      Auxiliary Bishop, Archdiocese of Detroit

      On May 5, 2011, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron ordained the Most Rev. Michael J. Byrnes auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Since 2004, Bishop Byrnes had served as vice rector of Sacred Heart Major Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity. Bishop Byrnes was ordained a priest by Cardinal Adam Maida in 1996. He later studied in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University where he earned a doctorate of sacred theology in 2003. Bishop Byrnes, a native of Detroit, also served as pastor of Presentation/ Our Lady of Victory Parish from 2004 until his ordination as bishop in 2011. Bishop Byrnes serves as episcopal vicar and regional moderator for the Northeast Region of the archdiocese.

      Central Regional Coordinator for Catechetics, Archdiocese of Detroit

      Patty Chase is the Central Regional Coordinator for Catechetics in the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis for the Archdiocese of Detroit. Prior to joining the Archdiocese Central Services, Patty served as the Director of Religious Education at St. Anastasia Parish in Troy and at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Detroit. Patty earned her Master's degree in Pastoral Studies with a concentration in Spirituality at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Patty has a passion for helping others to grow in their relationship with Christ, recognizing the dignity of each human person and exploring the treasures of our Catholic faith.
