Gorzkie Zale (Bitter Lamentations)

‘Lenten (or Bitter) Lamentations’) is a devotion that developed out of Poland in the 18th century. The devotion is primarily a sung reflection and meditation on the Passion of Christ and the sorrows of His Blessed Mother. The devotion consists of a three-part cycle, subdivided into five unique parts. One part of the cycle is held on each Sunday in the period of Lent.

The devotion usually starts with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by the sung introductory hymn: “Pobudka do rozmyślania męki Pańskiej” (English: “A wake-up call to begin meditating Our Lord’s Passion”).

Start: February 22, 2015 3:00 PM
End: February 22, 2015 4:00 PM

Tridentine Mass (High Mass in the Extraordinary Form)

On Sunday, February 22nd, following the Oakland County Latin Mass Association’s 9:45 a.m. Missa Cantata at the Academy of the Sacred Heart (Bloomfield Hills, MI), Juventutem Michigan board member Paul Schultz will give a presentation entitled “Juventutem: Young Adults Who Love the Latin Mass”. After Mass, all are welcome to remain for refreshments and Paul’s presentation in which he will discuss both the commitments that Juventutem asks of young adults and the aid that it affords to those who would like to see the Traditional Latin Mass more widely available.
Latin-English Missals are available for Mass. Rosary at 9:15 a.m.
All are invited to join us for weekly celebrations of the timeless liturgy of the Holy Mass in Extraordinary Form in this beautiful, peaceful setting, and to experience what His Holiness Benedict XVI described as “the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer.”
