Ann Arbor, Mich. – Radio host Al Kresta’s new book is meant to help Catholics respond to the arguments of their opponents, stressing the need to love one’s enemies so as to transform a culture hostile to Jesus Christ.

“It’s clear that Catholicism, especially in America, is under increased attack. And it isn’t as though somebody’s discovered some truth about the faith that is now rejected,” Kresta told CNA July 16. “It’s just that Catholicism has fallen out of favor.”

“American Catholics, I think for the first time since the 19th Continue Reading

Group presents data showing those who go to church weekly have most frequent, enjoyable sex

U.S. News & World Report

By Elizabeth Flock

Devout, married Catholics have the best sex of any demographic group, the Family Research Council said at an event Wednesday, pointing to a collection of studies from the last several decades.

The socially conservative Christian group relied heavily on statistics from the University of Chicago’s last National Health and Social Life Survey, conducted in 1992, which found the most enjoyable and most frequent sex occurring among married people, those who attended church weekly – any church, whether Catholic or not – and people who had the least sexual partners.

“Those who worship God weekly have the best sex,” said Patrick Fagan, a Continue Reading

Catholic Stand

By Patti Maguire Armstrong

It is holy to love our enemy, but we must recognize him. The guy who takes our parking spot, the cranky neighbor, the difficult in-law…they are not the ultimate enemy. Yes, they are personal challenges, but they are also opportunities for grace—“The measure with which you measure, will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38).

The ultimate enemy is the darkness that siphons off Godly values and rejects Christianity as silly or even dangerous to an indulgent society. We are called to love the misguided ones who fall for the clever disguises of darkness. By knowing the truths of our faith, we can shed light on the darkness and redirect them.

In his new book, Dangers to the Faith: Recognizing Catholicism’s 21st-Century Continue Reading

The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life recently showed that 19% of U.S. Muslims said that “suicide bombing or other forms of violence against civilians in the name of Islam” could be justified. That number in Egypt is 29% and 40% in the Palestinian territories. Do these findings mock the claim that Islam is a religion of peace? On Saturday, August 10, Ave Maria Radio will bring together renowned experts on Islam Continue Reading

Clarification in an Anti-Christian Culture

July 10, 2013

HUNTINGTON, Indiana – With his finger on the pulse of popular culture, acclaimed radio-show host, Al Kresta, addresses the primary challenges to the Catholic Church right now – some from within, others well beyond.

Kresta – a former Protestant minister who became Catholic – is quick to admit that Catholics tend to be under-informed on the truths of their faith, and not well-primed to flag sophisticated and seemingly well-reasoned assaults on it. With 100 million self-identified U.S. Catholics, less than 20 percent attend weekly Mass.

To assist the Church in telling its story, Kresta puts forth a first-of-its-kind clarification of popular worldviews at odds with Catholicism, unveiling truths and unmasking counterfeits. Dangers to the Faith: Recognizing Catholicism’s 21st-Century Opponents (Our Sunday Visitor, 2013) delves into many of the subjects discussed exclusively on Kresta’s syndicated daily radio show heard on over 200 stations, while maintaining a Continue Reading

The New American

June 26, 2013

By Dave Bohon

On June 20, as the nation waited for a ruling from the Supreme Court on a pair of cases that could change how Americans view marriage, a group of over 200 Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox clergy and Christian leaders released a signed pledge vowing to “stand in solidarity to defend marriage and the family and society founded upon them. The “Marriage Solidarity Statement,” drafted by Keith Fournier, editor of Catholic Online, and Mat Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel Action, acknowledges that while there are differences between the signers on some significant matters of religious doctrine and practice, “on the matter of marriage, we stand in solidarity.” The pledge was vetted among hundreds of pastors and Christian leaders across the nation, and was ultimately signed by a group of clergy and leaders who arguably represent tens of millions of Christians across America.

“As a nation, we have lost our moral compass,” the Christian leaders declare Continue Reading

The U.S. bishops have convoked the second annual Fortnight for Freedom, a two-week period of prayer and action, to address many current challenges to religious liberty, including the August 1, 2013 deadline for religious organizations to comply with the HHS mandate, Supreme Court rulings that could attempt to redefine marriage in June, and religious liberty concerns in areas such as immigration and humanitarian services.

All across the nation, Catholics will be joining with their fellow citizens of good will, who share concerns about religious liberty, in spiritual, educational and advocacy programs. First and foremost, however, the Fortnight for Continue Reading
